CIBC Employee Gives to Halton Women's Place
Debbie Avery of CIBC (second from left) presents $1,000 to Diane Beaulieu (centre), Executive Director of Halton Women's Place,
to help fund shelter and crisis services for abused women and their dependent children from Halton Region. From Halton Women's Place
are Janet Chambers, Executive Assistant (left), Laurie Kent, Clinical Manager (second from Right) and Janice Hamilton, Business
Manager (right).
Debbie Avery was inspired 13 years ago to become an active volunteer at Halton Women's Place when she became aware of the work the
centre does to support women who have nowhere else to turn after experiencing domestic turmoil.
"It was when I saw a mother and her tiny new twin babies having to rely on the services of Halton Women's Place instead of having a
loving household to come home to, I got involved," said Avery, a senior business advisor at CIBC's Lakeshore and George Branch in
Oakville. "Instead, this poor family had to move into a shelter provided by Halton Women's Place for the basic necessities of life.
From that moment on, I was committed to doing whatever I could to ease the burden of these women and bring a ray of hope and sunshine
to their children."
Now, Avery is delighted to be able to support Halton Women's Place financially with a $1,000 donation she obtained through CIBC's
Employee as Ambassador program.
Diane Beaulieu, Executive Director of Halton Women's Place, stated, "We are very fortunate to receive such generous support.
CIBC and Debbie Avery are to be commended for their commitment to Halton Women's Place. It is because of people like Debbie
that we are able to continue to provide safe shelter and emergency crisis services to women and children in need."
