Holiday Hamper Program 2007

Last Christmas, my children and I were able to truly celebrate Christmas – something that we haven’t been able to do for some time. This was made possible by the thoughtfulness and generosity of our holiday sponsor. The gifts we received were so beautiful and I don’t mean in a material sense. They were beautiful because of the generosity behind them. As well, we could see that so much effort and love went into our hamper and we will never forget that Christmas. For this we want to say thank you for caring and sharing! Without a doubt, this support changed our family. Through your compassion and continued support of Halton Women’s Place, our self respect is renewed and we are working together as a family to move forward in our lives.

Women come to Halton Women’s Place with their children to start a new life free of violence. As if the choice to leave an abusive home is not difficult enough, women who make this choice are faced with many new challenges, including lower income, affordable housing, custody issues and the loss of family traditions. Overcoming all of these obstacles takes a great deal of courage.

It is our hope that you will take part in our Holiday Hamper Program this year - your support will allow Women and Children who are supported by Halton Women's Place in the community, as well as women and children who will call Halton Women's Place home this Christmas - a happier holiday season. There are many ways for you to become involved – Sponsor a Family, Participate in our Teens for Teens Program, Sponsor a Child during their stay, become a Safe Shelter Sponsor or donate much needed Cash or Gift Certificates to purchase replacement items for the shelters.

• Food vouchers are needed: Family of 2: $35, Family of 4: $75, Family of 6: $100
