The staff, volunteers and Board of Directors at Halton Women's Place know that we could not do the work that we do without the generosity of our community supporters. Not only do they support the women and children through financial donations but also by assisting us in creating more awareness about our programs and services.
In this issue, we are happy to feature one of our biggest donors - Canadian Tire, Burlington. Since 2005 three Canadian Tire stores - Guelph Line, Plains Road and Appleby Line, have banded together to raise approximately $10,000 for Halton Women's Place. Although the Plains Road store has just recently closed, we are still greatly supported by the two remaining stores in Burlington.
Through Christmas tree sales and their annual bike program, these stores have done a fantastic job in working with us in our goal to have every woman and child live a violence free life.
It makes remarkable difference to us to know that a large company like Canadian Tire knows and appreciates the important work that we do and also is dedicated to supporting and enhancing the lives of the vulnerable women and their dependant children who use our services every day. At every level of the company they understand that abuse has no boundaries and with us they are helping us to meet the needs of Halton's growing, diverse population.
In addition to our Burlington Canadian Tire stores, we have three Oakville stores that participate in the same manner and raise an annual amount of $5,000. What an amazing demonstration of a community based company!
Regrettably, in our February 2008 newsletter, we mistakenly placed Canadian Tire's contribution in the wrong category and we sincerely apologize for the error. We truly value and appreciate the dedicated efforts and financial contribution given by these Canadian Tire stores.
